About This Service
An outdoor gas point connects your barbecue, outdoor kitchen or patio heater to the home's gas supply. We run a gas line from your existing pipework to where you want it outside, fit a gas outlet there, and connect the appliance or leave the outlet ready for it. Everything is tested for leaks before it goes into use. It has to be done by a licensed gas fitter, and if your barbecue was built for LPG bottles, it will need converting for natural gas before it can be connected to the house supply.

No more bottle swaps
A barbecue on the house's natural gas supply doesn't run out halfway through cooking, and there's no bottle to refill, swap or store.
Built-in barbecues and outdoor kitchens
A built-in barbecue in an outdoor kitchen usually needs a fixed gas connection. It is easiest to plan it while the outdoor area is being built, so the gas line can run before paving or decking goes down.
A point for later
If you're renovating outside but haven't bought the barbecue yet, we can run the gas line now and leave a capped outlet ready for later.
Things to Know Before You Book
LPG and natural gas barbecues are different
A barbecue set up for LPG bottles can't simply be plugged into natural gas. Many models can be converted with a kit from the manufacturer, and some can't be converted at all. Check with the maker or the shop before you buy.
Where it goes
Barbecues need the clearances to walls, eaves and anything that can burn that the manufacturer specifies, and they're made for open-air use. Check the manual before deciding where it sits.
Patio heaters
Outdoor gas heaters can run off an outdoor gas point too, but they are made for open spaces. Never use one indoors or in a closed-in area.
If you smell gas
Turn the barbecue off at the burners and the gas point. Don't light anything. If the smell doesn't clear, turn the gas off at the meter if it is safe, keep people away and call Jemena on 131 909 for natural gas in Sydney, your supplier for LPG, or 000 in immediate danger. Then call a licensed gas fitter.

Common Questions
FAQs
Can you connect my barbecue to natural gas?
Yes, if the barbecue is made for natural gas or has been converted for it. We run a gas line from your existing pipework, fit an outdoor gas point and connect the barbecue, then test it for leaks.
Can I connect my LPG barbecue to the house gas?
Not as it is. An LPG barbecue needs converting for natural gas first, usually with the manufacturer's conversion kit, and some models can't be converted. Check with the manufacturer or retailer.
Can you put in an outdoor gas point before I buy a barbecue?
Yes. We can run the gas line and leave a capped outlet ready, which suits an outdoor area that's being built or renovated.
Can I connect a barbecue to a gas point myself?
Gas fitting work must be done by a licensed gas fitter in NSW. If you're not sure whether something counts, ask us before you do it.
Do you connect built-in barbecues and outdoor kitchens?
Yes. Our licensed gas fitters run the gas line and connect built-in barbecues. If the outdoor kitchen has a sink, we can do the water and waste too.
How much does an outdoor gas point cost?
It depends on how far the gas line has to run and what it has to go through. We give you a fixed price before we start, with a $0 call-out fee.
