Relining builds a new pipe inside the old one, working through the openings the drain already has, so the ground above it is left alone.
Clean the old pipe
Roots, grease and silt are cleared out of the pipe with a high-pressure jet blaster, so the liner can sit tight against the pipe wall.
Put the liner in
A flexible liner soaked in resin is pulled or inverted into the damaged length and inflated against the inside of the old pipe.
Let it cure
The resin cures hard in place, leaving a smooth pipe without joints inside the old one. The open joints and cracks roots were getting through are sealed.
Reopen the branches
Where other pipes join the line, the connections are cut back open from the inside so everything upstream drains into the new lining.
When Relining Suits, and When Digging Is Better
Relining is not the answer to every damaged pipe. What the camera shows decides it.
Relining usually suits
Tree roots through the joints of old clay pipe, cracked or leaking lengths that still hold their shape, and pipes under something you don't want dug up: a driveway, a tiled courtyard, an established garden, a slab or an extension. It works on sewer and stormwater lines.
Digging is usually better
A section that has collapsed, a sag deep enough to hold water, a pipe laid at the wrong fall or too small for what it carries, or a line broken along most of its length. Relining would copy those problems, not fix them.
Sometimes it is both
A line can have one collapsed length and several cracked ones. Digging up the collapsed part and relining the rest can leave far less of the yard disturbed than replacing the lot.
How the Camera Is Used Before and After
No one can tell whether a pipe can be relined without seeing inside it. So every relining job starts and finishes with a CCTV drain camera.
Before: find the fault
The camera shows what is wrong and where: roots at a joint, cracks, a length that has shifted, or a collapse. We record how far along the line each fault is and how deep, and you watch the footage with us.
Before: decide the fix
The footage shows whether the pipe holds its shape well enough to line, which lengths need it, and whether any part needs digging instead. That is what the price is based on.
After: check the result
Once the liner has cured, the camera goes back through to show the new lining is smooth and sealed and the branch connections are open.

Is pipe relining as good as replacing the pipe?
In many cases it's better. The cured resin liner is smooth and resistant to root intrusion, corrosion, and cracking for 25+ years.
How long does pipe relining take?
Most residential relining jobs are completed in a single day. Longer pipe sections or difficult access may take longer.
What pipes can be relined?
Most types — clay, concrete, cast iron, and PVC. We'll confirm suitability after the CCTV inspection.
Will my garden be dug up?
No — that's the key benefit of relining. We access the pipe through existing inspection openings wherever possible.
Do you camera the pipe before and after relining?
Yes, both times. The first inspection shows whether the pipe can be relined, which lengths need it and where they are. The second, once the liner has cured, confirms it is smooth and sealed and that the branch connections are open. You see the footage both times.
Can a collapsed pipe be relined?
Not the collapsed part. A liner needs the old pipe to form against, so a section that has caved in, or sagged so far that water sits in it, has to be dug up and replaced. Often that is only one length, and the rest of the line can still be relined.
Can tree roots grow back through a relined pipe?
Not through the liner. Roots get in through open joints and cracks, and the liner seals them. They can still find an unlined section further along, which is why the camera inspection covers the whole line, not just the blockage.
Can stormwater pipes be relined, or only sewer pipes?
Both. Cracked and root-damaged stormwater lines can be relined the same way as sewer lines, as long as the camera shows the pipe still holds its shape. If a stormwater line is broken along most of its length, laying a new line can make more sense, and we'll say so.
