Water Meter & New Water Connection Plumber Sydney

New water connections, water meters, and the water service from the meter to the house, for new builds, granny flats, subdivisions and replacements.

No surprise bills: $0 call-out and a fixed price before any work starts.

Our guarantee: 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. What it covers

The water meter is where your property's plumbing meets the water authority's supply. We install water meters and new water connections, and run the water service from the meter to the house. That comes up on new builds, knock-down rebuilds, granny flats, dual occupancies and subdivisions, and when an old water service needs replacing. New connections to the water main and new meters are arranged with your water authority, such as Sydney Water, and may need their approval or an application first. We tell you what applies to your property before we start, and give you a fixed price.

A new home needs a water connection and meter, and the water service run to the house.

Depending on the project, a second dwelling may share the existing water service or have its own. It's worth working out early, because it affects where pipes go.

Each new lot generally needs its own water connection and meter, arranged with the water authority.

Old water services can leak underground or give poor flow. Replacing the line from the meter to the house fixes both.

In most Sydney homes the meter is near the front boundary, often in a small pit with a lid. The main stop tap is beside it.

Generally the water authority looks after the meter and its supply side, and the property owner looks after the pipes on the house side. If you're unsure who's responsible for a leak near the meter, ask us or your water authority.

Turn off every tap and water-using appliance, note the reading, and check again after an hour or two. If it has moved, there's a leak.

Keep the meter and stop tap clear of plants, mulch and pavers, so you can turn the water off quickly in an emergency.

Not always. It depends on the project and what your water authority and council need. We'll talk it through with you at the planning stage.

If the leak is on the house side of the meter, it's a job for your plumber. If it's at the meter or on the street side, it's usually the water authority's. If you're not sure, call us and we'll take a look.
