About This Service
Not every leak is a burst. Most leaking pipes start small: a weeping joint under the kitchen sink, a flexi hose starting to fray, a pinhole in an old copper pipe in the wall, or a fitting under the house that has been dripping for months. Small leaks still do damage over time, to cabinets, floors, walls and the timber under the house, and they add to the water bill. We find where the water is actually coming from, repair the joint or replace the leaking section or hose, then run the water and check it before we leave. You get a fixed price before we start.

Under sinks, basins and vanities
The most common spot. Braided flexi hoses, compression fittings, the waste trap and the stop taps all live in that cupboard, and a slow drip there can swell the cabinet floor before anyone notices.
Inside walls
A leaking pipe in the wall shows up as a damp patch, bubbling paint, swollen skirting or mould low on the wall. Pipes behind showers, basins and toilets are the usual suspects, as are pipes hit by a nail or screw.
Under the house
On houses with a timber floor, a leak underneath can drip for months unseen. Signs are a damp or musty smell, soft flooring, or wet ground under the house when it hasn't rained.
In the yard
The water service between the meter and the house can leak underground. A soggy patch of lawn, or grass that stays greener along one line, can point to it.
Signs You Have a Leaking Pipe
Your water bill jumps
A bill noticeably higher than usual, with no change in how you use water, often means water is going somewhere it shouldn't.
The water meter moves with everything off
Turn off every tap and water-using appliance and note the meter reading. Check again after an hour or two. If it has moved, there's a leak somewhere.
Damp, stains or smells
Damp walls or ceilings, stains, peeling paint, a musty smell or mould in one spot all point to a leak nearby.
The sound of running water
Hearing water running when every tap is off is worth taking seriously.
Leaking or Burst?
We recently found and repaired a leaking pipe in Guildford. Most leaks are like that one: steady, not a flood. If water is spraying, pouring through a ceiling or won't stop, treat it as a burst pipe.
A steady drip or damp patch
Book a repair. Put a bucket or towel under it, and close the nearest isolation valve if there is one.
Water you can't stop
Turn the water off at the meter and call us. We take emergency call-outs 24/7, and for an emergency callout we aim to be with you within 60 minutes.

Common Questions
FAQs
How do you find a leaking pipe?
We trace the water back from where it shows up to the pipe, joint or hose that is actually leaking. If the leak is hidden in a wall or under a slab, our leak detection service uses acoustic, thermal and moisture testing to find it without opening up more than needed.
There's water under my kitchen sink. What is it likely to be?
Often a flexi hose, a compression fitting on a stop tap, or the waste trap. Put a bucket under it and close the isolation valve if it's the supply side. It's a common, straightforward repair.
Do I need to replace all my pipes?
Usually not. Most leaks are repaired at the joint, or by replacing the leaking section or hose. If more of the pipework is in poor condition, we'll tell you what we found and give you a fixed price for the options.
Can a small leak really cause damage?
Yes. A slow leak over weeks or months can rot cabinets and floor timber, stain walls and ceilings, and encourage mould, and it adds to your water bill the whole time.
Can you write a report for my insurer?
Yes. We can provide a plumbing report setting out what we found and what we repaired.
How much does a leaking pipe repair cost?
It depends on where the pipe is and what's leaking. We give you a fixed price before we start, with a $0 call-out fee.
