About This Service
A burst pipe can do a lot of damage quickly, so the first job is stopping the water. We find the burst or leaking pipe, cut out the damaged section and replace it, then test the line before the water goes back on. We take emergency call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and for an emergency callout we aim to be with you within 60 minutes. If you are making an insurance claim, we can give you a written plumbing report on what failed. You get a fixed price before any work starts.

The first few minutes matter most. Do what you can safely, in this order.
Turn the water off at the meter
In most Sydney homes the main stop tap is at the water meter, near the front boundary, often in a small pit with a lid. Turn it clockwise until it stops. If you can't find it or it won't turn, close the nearest isolation valve to the leak.
Turn the power off if water is near electrics
If water is near power points, light fittings, appliances or the meter box, switch the power off at the main switch, but only if you can reach it without going through water. If you can't do it safely, stay back and call 000.
Move what you can and contain the water
Move valuables, rugs and electronics out of the way, and use towels and buckets to contain the water.
Open a cold tap to drain the pipes
With the water off at the meter, opening a cold tap lets the water left in the pipes drain out instead of through the burst.
Call us
We're on call 24/7. Tell us where the leak is, how bad it is, and whether you've managed to turn the water off.
Why Pipes Burst or Start Leaking
Old or corroded pipes
Older pipework wears thin over time and can split or start weeping at a joint.
Failed flexi hoses and fittings
The braided flexi hoses under sinks and toilets, and the fittings on water lines, can fail without much warning.
Damage to the pipe
A nail or screw through a pipe in a wall, or digging that hits a water service in the yard, can cause a burst or a slow leak.
Insurance Claims
Many insurers want to know what failed and why. Take photos before you clean up, and keep the plumber's invoice and report.
A written plumbing report
We can provide a plumbing report for your insurance claim, setting out what we found, what failed and what we repaired.
Talk to your insurer early
What is covered depends on your policy, so call your insurer early, even before you know the full extent of the damage.

FAQs
What should I do first when a pipe bursts?
Turn the water off at the meter, and turn the power off at the main switch if water is near any electrics and you can reach it safely. Move what you can out of the way, open a cold tap to drain the pipes, then call us.
Can you come out for a burst pipe at night or on the weekend?
Yes. We take emergency call-outs 24/7 with a $0 call-out fee, and for an emergency callout we aim to be with you within 60 minutes.
Do you replace the whole pipe or just the damaged part?
Usually we cut out and replace the damaged section of pipe. If more of the pipework is in poor condition, we'll tell you what we found and give you a fixed price for the options before we start.
Where is my water meter?
