Mr. Clog Plumbing

Plumbing Reports for Insurance Claims, Sydney

Making a claim for a leak, burst pipe or leaking shower? We find what failed, fix it, and give you a written plumbing report on what we found, what caused it and what we repaired.

No surprise bills: $0 call-out and a fixed price before any work starts.

Our guarantee: 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. What it covers

When water damage leads to an insurance claim, your insurer will usually want to know what caused it. That's a plumbing question: was it a burst pipe, a failed flexi hose, a leaking shower waste, a pipe in the wall, or failed waterproofing? We find the source first, using leak detection where the leak is hidden, then repair the plumbing and write a plumbing report setting out what we found, the cause and what we repaired or what still needs doing. The report covers the plumbing. Your insurer decides what the policy covers, and repairs to plaster, flooring or joinery are usually arranged through the claim. Where the waterproofing has failed, we can organise the waterproofer and tiler we work with. You get a fixed price for our work before we start, and 12 months on our workmanship.

Where the water was coming from, and what we saw when we got there.

What failed: the pipe, fitting, hose, waste, mixer or waterproofing.

The plumbing work we did, and anything that still needs doing, such as waterproofing or retiling.

General steps that help a claim. Your policy and insurer have the final say.

Turn off the water at the meter or the fixture's isolation valve, and keep away from water near electrics.

Photograph the damage, and the failed part if you can see it, before anything is cleaned up or moved.

If it's a flexi hose or fitting that burst, keep it rather than throwing it out.

Make it safe and stop the leak, but check with your insurer before going further than that, if you can.

A split pipe or a failed braided hose under a sink or toilet, often found by the water across the floor.

Water through the wall or into the ceiling below, from the mixer, the pipes in the wall, the shower waste or the waterproofing.

Leaks in walls, under floors and between apartments, found with leak detection rather than by opening things up.

A report on where a leak started helps the owners corporation and the owners work out whose responsibility it is.
