Boiling & Chilled Water Tap Installation Sydney

A Zip or other boiling, chilled and filtered water tap for the kitchen. We install the tap and the unit under the sink, connect the water and filter, and coordinate with your electrician for the power.

No surprise bills: $0 call-out and a fixed price before any work starts.

Our guarantee: 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. What it covers

A boiling water tap is two parts: the tap on the bench, and a unit in the cupboard below that heats, and in some models chills and filters, the water. Installing one means a tap hole in the right place, a cold water connection with an isolation valve to the under-sink unit, the filter fitted where its cartridge can be changed, and room in the cupboard for the unit and the airflow it needs. It also needs a power point under the sink. That's work for a licensed electrician, so if there isn't one, it has to be put in first. We install boiling, chilled and filtered water taps, including Zip, as a new install, as a replacement for an existing unit, or as part of a kitchen renovation. Fixed price before we start, 12 months on our workmanship.

The under-sink unit plugs in. If there isn't a power point in the cupboard, a licensed electrician needs to install one before we fit the unit.

The unit takes up a good part of the cupboard, and chilled units also need ventilation to get rid of heat. The installation guide gives the space and airflow the model needs.

A boiling tap needs its own hole in the bench or sink, or it replaces your existing mixer if you choose a model that does hot and cold too.

Some taps give boiling and filtered water, others add chilled and sparkling. Chilled models need more cupboard space and airflow.

The unit is fed from the cold water line under the sink, with its own isolation valve so it can be serviced without turning off the kitchen.

Most boiling water systems filter the water before heating it. The cartridge needs changing at the interval the maker sets, so it's fitted where you can reach it.

Units have a range of water pressure they're made for. If the pressure in your home is outside it, a pressure limiting valve may be needed.

Most boiling taps have a child-safety handle that needs a deliberate action to run boiling water. Check how it works on the model you're buying.

A new unit of the same type often uses the existing tap hole, water connection and power point, which keeps the job simple.

A different model may need a different tap hole, more cupboard space or different connections. Send us the model before you buy and we'll check.

The problem

Two kitchen sink tap upgrades, one in Abbotsford and one in Drummoyne.

What we did

In both kitchens we installed a Zip 3-way filtered mixer tap: hot and cold water plus filtered drinking water from the one tap, with the Zip MicroPurity filter mounted under the sink.

Common Questions

Yes. We install Zip and other boiling, chilled and filtered water taps.

Yes. The unit under the sink plugs into a power point in the cupboard. If you don't have one, a licensed electrician needs to install it first.

Some models do boiling, filtered, hot and cold from one tap, so they replace the mixer. Others sit alongside it and need their own tap hole.

Follow the interval in the manufacturer's guide for your unit. We fit the filter where you can reach it to change the cartridge.

Yes. It's easiest planned before the cabinets go in, so the tap position, cupboard space and power point are all ready at fit-off.

We give you a fixed price for the installation before we start, with a $0 call-out fee.
