Our guarantee: 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. What it covers

Norwest is one of Sydney's newest suburbs. It was created in 2018 from parts of Baulkham Hills and Kellyville, around a business park that North Sydney Brick & Tile (Norbrik) started in 1983 on farmland it had owned since 1949. The Hills Shire Council has its administration centre here, the Metro station opened in 2019, and apartments and shops went up around Norwest Lake and Marketown in 2018 and 2019. At the 2021 census more than half of Norwest's homes were apartments, a bit over a third were freestanding houses, and around four in ten were rented.

Norwest's plumbing reflects what the suburb is: offices, showrooms and medical suites in the business park, apartment buildings around the lake and the station, and houses on the residential streets. Because the suburb is young, the questions here are rarely about century-old pipe. They are about buildings that share their plumbing, commercial premises with compliance obligations, and the faults that show up in the first years of a new building. Under all of it is the clay of the Hills, which holds water after rain and moves as it wets and dries, so stormwater and the fall of pipes laid in it both matter.

$0 call-out fee — available 24/7, 365 days a year across Norwest and nearby suburbs.

Every part of Sydney has its own plumbing character, shaped by the age of the housing, the ground it sits on, and the weather it takes. Here is what we are called out for most often around Norwest.

Commercial buildings, medical suites and many larger sites have testable backflow prevention devices that stop water from the premises flowing back into the town supply. Sydney Water requires those devices to be tested every year by a licensed plumber accredited for backflow, with the result lodged online. In a business park full of them, a missed test date is an easy thing to lose track of.

Most of the apartments around Norwest Lake and the station are young buildings, and young buildings have their own faults: a shower that was never fully sealed, a waste joint that was not glued, a flexible hose that fails early. The water usually shows up in the unit below. Tracing it to the source settles whether it is a private repair, a common property matter or a defect claim.

In an apartment building, one blocked stack or a fault in shared hot water plant affects a whole floor or the whole building. The first job is working out which part of the system has failed and who owns it, so the owners corporation or the unit owner can approve the repair without delay.

The clay soils of the Hills drain slowly, so water from roofs and paving has to be carried away by pits and pipes rather than soaking in. When a grate silts up or a line is damaged, water sits against a building or across a driveway after rain. Keeping pits and lines clear, and fixing a cracked or sagging section, deals with it.

Common Questions

Yes. Testable backflow devices have to be tested every year by an accredited plumber, and the result lodged with Sydney Water. We can test your device, repair or replace it if it fails, and lodge the report.

Tell your neighbour and your building or strata manager straight away. We find where the leak starts and document it, so the repair and responsibility can be sorted out quickly.

Yes. We work on commercial premises, including toilets, kitchens, hot water and drainage, and we can work around your opening hours where needed.

New buildings can have installation faults that take a while to show, such as a failed shower seal or a loose joint. We find the cause and give you a written explanation, which helps if the fault is covered by a builder's warranty or defect claim.

Yes. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, including weekends and public holidays, and we send a licensed plumber out after hours for problems that can't safely wait, such as a burst pipe, a leak into the unit below or a blocked drain backing up.
