Downpipe Repairs & Replacement Sydney

Downpipe leaking, rusted through, blocked or spilling water at the joints? We clear blocked downpipes, repair or replace damaged ones, and make sure the water gets into the stormwater.

No surprise bills: $0 call-out and a fixed price before any work starts.

Our guarantee: 12 months on our workmanship, in writing. What it covers

A downpipe takes the water from the gutter down to the stormwater. When it blocks, the gutter overflows at that corner of the house. When it leaks, rusts through or comes apart at the joints, water runs down the wall. When it's disconnected at the bottom, roof water soaks into the ground beside the house. We find where it's failing, whether that's the outlet at the gutter, a joint along the downpipe or the connection at the ground, clear any blockage, and repair or replace the downpipe, including in Colorbond steel. If the downpipe is clear but water still backs up at the ground, the problem is in the stormwater line underneath, and we check it on camera. You get a fixed price before we start, and 12 months on our workmanship.

When a gutter overflows next to a downpipe but nowhere else, the downpipe or its outlet is usually blocked.

Joints that have pulled apart or seams that have rusted let water out down the wall, which stains render and wets the footings.

Old steel downpipes rust from the inside, often at the bottom bend first.

A puddle or soggy ground at the foot of the downpipe means the water isn't getting into the stormwater.

Loose brackets let the downpipe move, which opens up the joints.

If the downpipe itself is blocked, water backs up into the gutter. Leaves at the outlet are the usual cause.

If the downpipe is clear but water bubbles out where it meets the ground, the stormwater line underneath is blocked or broken. We check it on a CCTV camera and clear it with the jet blaster.

Downpipes connect into the property's stormwater, which takes the water to the street or another approved point.

Roof water must not go into the sewer. Stormwater and sewer are separate systems.

A downpipe can feed a rainwater tank, with the tank overflow connected to the stormwater.

How It Works

01

Gutter outlet, a joint along the downpipe, or the connection at the ground.

02

Leaves and debris cleared from the outlet and downpipe.

03

Damaged lengths, joints or outlets replaced, the downpipe reconnected.

04

Water run from the gutter to check it flows to the stormwater.

Common Questions

If the gutter overflows next to the downpipe in rain, or water backs up when you run a hose into the gutter there, the downpipe or its outlet is probably blocked.

Yes, if the rest is sound. If the downpipe is rusted along its length, replacing the whole run usually makes more sense.

Usually, yes. Roof water dumped beside the house soaks into the ground near the footings. It should go into the stormwater or a rainwater tank.

No. Roof water has to go to the stormwater, not the sewer.

The stormwater line below is blocked or broken. We check it on camera and clear or repair it.
