Does it matter which council my Kogarah property is in?
For plumbing inside your boundary, not much. For stormwater leaving the property, flood information and heritage approvals it does, because part of Kogarah is in Georges River Council and part in Bayside Council. We check which applies before recommending anything that needs approval.
Can I add a bathroom to a house in the Kogarah South conservation area?
Usually. The council's guidelines accept new bathrooms and kitchens where the heritage significance of the house and the area is not harmed. Work inside the house is less likely to be affected than anything visible from the street.
